01. Basic Usage

1. Enter the text you want to display (use line breaks for multiple lines)

02. Fine-Tuning the Look

1. Use 'Padding' to pick the space around the text from None, Small, Medium, or Large
2. Set 'Stretch' to Uniform to spread the whole text, or Per Line to spread each line, across the width of the image
3. Press 'Random' to change the text color at random

Q. What size are the created emoji?

A. Output as 128×128 pixel PNG format, optimized for Slack's recommended size. The background is transparent, so it blends into both light and dark themes.

Q. Can I use actual emoji in the text?

A. Yes! You can combine text and emoji to create unique custom emoji.

Q. Does it work with Discord?

A. Yes, the emoji can also be used as Discord Custom Emoji. Upload it from server settings.

Q. What's the difference between fonts?

A. Gothic is simple and readable, Rounded gives a softer impression, Serif is formal, and Script creates a traditional Japanese atmosphere.

Q. I can't find a font selector

A. Fonts aren't selected—every one is previewed at the same time. Gothic, Rounded, Serif, and Script each appear once per available weight. Compare them and press the download button beneath the one you want.

Q. Why does Script have only one option?

A. The typeface used for Script ships with a single weight. The other three fonts offer four weights each, from light to extra bold.

Q. What's the difference between padding options?

A. Against the 128-pixel canvas, None adds 0 pixels, Small adds 2, Medium adds 4, and Large adds 8 on every side. Padding improves visibility, so Small works best in most cases, but None is recommended for text-heavy emoji.

Q. What's the difference between stretch options?

A. 'None' keeps the aspect ratio and centres the text, 'Uniform' expands everything to fill the square, and 'Per Line' stretches each line individually to full width. Per Line is the default and keeps edges aligned when lines have different character counts.

Q. How is the downloaded file named?

A. Spaces and line breaks are stripped from your text and the first 10 characters become the filename. If the text is empty it becomes emoji.png. When registering in Slack, rename it using only alphanumeric characters and underscores.

Q. Are my settings saved?

A. No. Reloading the page resets the text, colour, and other options to their defaults. Create several in one sitting if you want to keep the same settings.

01. The Upload Limit

Slack allows up to 500 custom emoji per workspace. Once you reach the cap, you have to delete emoji that have fallen out of use to free up room.

02. Naming Your Emoji

Emoji names can only use alphanumeric characters and underscores, called with colons (:emoji_name:). Spaces and hyphens are not allowed, so underscore-separated names are the usual convention. The filename this tool produces uses the first ten characters of your text, and you can rename the emoji when uploading it to Slack.

03. Entering Them Quickly

Frequently used emoji can be quickly entered via Slack's Quick Switcher (Ctrl+K / Cmd+K). Typing a colon followed by a few letters in the message box narrows the list, so a consistent naming scheme makes recall much faster.

04. Keeping Them Legible

Multi-line emoji tend to reduce visibility, so simple 1-2 lines are recommended. Creating consistent emoji across your team makes communication even more fun.

05. Why 128 Pixels

This tool exports images at 128 by 128 pixels, Slack's recommended size for custom emoji, with a transparent background. In an actual message they render shrunk down to roughly 20 pixels. That is why the preview includes small samples — so you can check how the design holds up at display size.

06. No Typeface Selector

There is no control for choosing a typeface. All four are rendered at once, and you save the one you like using the button beneath it. The four are a rounded gothic, a standard gothic, a serif, and a brush style, each shown at several weights. The brush style carries only one weight, so it offers fewer variants than the others.

07. Three Ways to Stretch Text

Text can be fitted three ways. 'None' preserves the aspect ratio and centres the text; 'uniform' scales the whole block to fill the square. The default, 'per line', stretches each line individually to the full width, so lines of differing length end up visually aligned. The effect is clearest when short and long lines are mixed.

08. What Padding Does

Padding offers four levels, defaulting to small. Removing it entirely makes the text as large as possible, though in Slack the result can look cramped against neighbouring emoji. Choosing large shrinks each character, which hurts legibility when there is a lot of text.

09. Choosing a Colour

You can pick from 52 sample swatches, type a colour code directly, or use the circular colour picker. The swatches are thirteen hues at four levels of depth each. There is a random button too, but its range deliberately avoids extremely light and dark colours so the result stays readable on both light and dark backgrounds.

10. Nothing Is Saved

This tool does not store your input. Reloading the page returns everything to its initial state. Image generation happens entirely within your browser, so the text you enter is never sent anywhere. To keep an image, press the save button and download it.
